Professor Peter Barrett-Lee was Medical Registrar at Mayday Hospital, Croydon and gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1985. He gained his Doctorate of Medicine Thesis in the laboratory of the Medical Breast unit at St George’s Hospital, London under the supervision of Professor R Charles Coombes. He trained for 5 years in both radiotherapy and medical oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital and obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists. He then worked at the Meyerstein Institute of Clinical Oncology at UCL Hospitals London on several clinical trials of new hormones and chemotherapy that have now become standard treatments.
