Dr. Shalimar graduated from Nottingham University, England, UK in 1998 with double Bachelors of Medicine Surgery and Bachelors of Medical Science (Hons). She subsequently returned to Malaysia for her housemanship and early training. She was fast tracked into the lecturer programme and Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery in UKM, Malaysia followed by a 1.5 year Fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the prestigious Kleinert Institute, Louisville, Kentucky, USA in 2010. A year later, she obtained the Diploma in Hand Surgery issued by the FESSH (Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand).
She has up to 50 publications and is actively involved in numerous research activities.
