Acute myocardial infarction is the medical name for a heart attack. Treatment should be immediate and could involve a A minimally invasive procedure called angioplasty to unblock the arteries that supply blood to the heart. In more severe cases it may involve coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) in some cases. In this procedure, the surgeon will reroutes veins and arteries so the blood can flow around the blockage.
