He is the Director of the Lacy Surgery Institute of the Hospital Quirónsalud Barcelona, Surgery and Surgical Specialties Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona, President of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery and member of the “Research Fund Committee” of EURO-NOTES. He is an expert in Surgical Oncology and in Surgery related with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis).
His vast experience in the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques has made him a pioneer in Spain as well as worldwide, in conducting surgery NOTES (through natural orifices such as removing the gall bladder through the mouth or removing part of the large intestine through the vagina). He is also a pioneer in Europe using SILS (single-incision laparoscopic surgery) in Obesity Surgery.
