Dr. Josep Tabernero is the Medical Director of the Baselga Oncology Institute - Hospital Quirónsalud Barcelona and is the Head of its Gastrointestinal Cancer Unit. His researched has been focused on clinical digestive oncology and in developing new cancer treatment drugs. He leads international multicentric trials of new drugs being developed for treating digestive tumours and participates in several European Union research project for identifying the prognostic and predictive factors of the response to molecular treatments.
He is the Spanish representative of the PETACC (Pan-European Trials in Alimentary Tract Cancer) platform for treating digestive tumours in the European Organisation for Cancer Research and Treatment. He is also a Medical Oncology Professor for the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona and is a visiting associate professor for the University of Naples.
