Dr. Sami Salem Ahmad is a well known senior consultant surgeon with over 30 years' experience who is specialised in laparoscopic gastrointestinal and obesity surgery. He has performed large number of obesity procedures and surgeries, such as sleeve gastrectomy, omega bypass, gastric banding, Roux en Y gastric bypass, and has been working in this field since 1991. Dr. Sami is internationally known for the treatment of the gastroesophageal reflux disease and is one of the pioneers of sleeve gastrectomy in Germany.
Dr. Sami has performed more than 5000 bariatric (obesity) operations during the course of his career. Re-do and correction operations after failed bariatric operations are common procedures in his practice. Dr. Sami routinely performs endoscopic intragastric balloon procedures. He is one of the first doctors globally to start intragastric Botox injections and has published in this field.
He studied in Hamburg, Germany and specialised in General and Gastrointestinal Surgery in Hamburg and London. He achieved the Doctorate of Medicine from Hamburg University and is registered as a consultant surgeon on the London specialist register and with the Stuttgart medical council.
