Prof. Dr. Safwan Abdulrahman Taha graduated from Basrah College of Medicine, IRAQ, in 1983 with honors and became Professor of Surgery, with distinction, in 2000. He was founding Dean of Thi-Qar College of medicine, URAQ, in 2003. He holds Fellowship of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Glasgow, Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons, Specialization Diploma in laparoscopic Surgery from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France and the Certificate of the Arab Board of Surgery.
Prof. Taha is currently Governor of the UAE Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Governor at large and member of the Board of Governors of the American College of Surgeons.
Prof. Taha is the Director and Lead Surgeon of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Center at Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital.
He is an international speaker, has more than 37 published papers and serves as “Reviewer” for “Obesity Surgery”, the Official Journal of IFSO.
Prof. Taha is recognized as “Master Surgeon in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery” and “Surgeon of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery” by the Surgical Review Corporation, USA.
