Neck Lift (Cervicoplasty)- Aesthetic Medicine/ Cosmetology, Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery

A neck lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure in which the neck line is tightened to enhance it's appearance. Cervicoplasty in particular refers to a neck lift in which only the skin is altered; unlike Platysmaplasty in which fat and muscle tissues from the neck are removed or altered.

Cervicoplasty procedures generally include removal of excess skin and tightening of the skin of the neck, after which results can be seen in 1-3 months. Before choosing cervicoplasty surgery, you will be asked a series of questions about your medical history by your dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

The surgery may last several hours, during which the patient is placed under anesthesia and small incisions will be made in your neck. Excessive skin will be removed and the neck will be tightened with the use of stitches.

This operation is usually done on an outpatient basis at a surgical dermatology office or a hospital. Most who undergo the surgery can return to work within 10-14 days, provided they do not engage in heavy lifting. Painkillers are often prescribed to deal with post-surgical pain.
