Dr. Leila Ben Salem Hachmi

Dr. Hachmi is an Associate Professor in Medicine, specialised in endocrinology since 2001. She trained at both Tunisian and French universities.

Prior to joining Mediclinic, she practised endocrinology and diabetology in a renowned university hospital in Tunis, including the supervision and teaching of medical students and general practitioners

She was the secretary of the Tunisian Endocrine Society for five years and the vice president for two years. She has also been the Tunisian board member in the Mediterranean group of Study of Diabetes (MGSD) since April 2015 and Vice President since April 2017.

Her core competencies are:

• All types of diabetes including Type-1, Type-2, gestational diabetes
• All types of thyroid diseases including hypothyroidism, thyrotoxicosis (hyperthyroidism), thyroid nodules and goiters
• Pituitary diseases including pituitary tumors, acromegaly, hyperprolactinemia, hypopituitarism, Diabetes Insipidus etc.
• Problems of growth and pubertal development including short stature, delayed or precocious puberty
• Adrenal gland diseases like Cushing’s syndrome, Addison’s disease, adrenal tumors, pheochromocytoma, hyperaldosteronism and female hyperandrogenism (hirsutism)
• Reproductive endocrinology including menstrual cycle disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome
• Calcium disorders, hyper and hypo-parathyroidism
• Lipid disorders
