About the Doctor / Professional
Dr. Oliver is the co-director of two internationally renowned units located at the Centro Médico Teknon Grupo Quirónsalud, Oliver & Ayats Institute, and the Chiari and Craniocervical Hypermobility Unit, the first specialized unit for the surgical treatment of craniocervical hypermobility present in Europe. He has extensive experience in spinal surgery and neurosurgery and is renowned for his surgeries at the base of the skull as well as his operations on brain tumours, spinal surgeries, and OCD surgery. He is a pioneer in the implementation of robotic technology as a minimally invasive technique.
Dr. Oliver studied Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He began his specialization in Neurosurgery in 1977 at the National Neurosurgery Department in Madrid under the supervision of Dr. Sixto Obrador, the internationally renowned neurosurgeon. After completing his Neurosurgery studies in Madrid, Dr. Oliver joined the newly set up Neurosurgery Department at the Sant Pau Hospital of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. During the initial stage at this Department, Dr. Oliver took up the responsibility to introduce new techniques learned in Stockholm (Sweden), Montreal (Canada), and San Luis and Pittsburgh (USA). Until April 2012, he was the Director of the Neurosurgery Department at the Mútua de Terrassa University Hospital and Parc Taulí Hospital.
